What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a motivated and self-starting Production Planning Control Specialist to join the dynamic product realization team of department 7521. Our team has a diverse set of skills and background to enable rapid production missions in close collaboration with our customers and partners. You will be responsible for overseeing planning activities to coordinate production efforts for multiple rapid product realization programs. Additionally, support will be required for development activities that will require coordination between design, production, procurement, and testing groups. These activities will include holding daily stand-up meetings, scheduling and releasing jobs, maintaining and updating Oracle, verifying inventory, coordinating development procurements and builds, and performing continuous improvement activities.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Work with project leaders, project managers, and project controllers to develop integrated production schedules
  • Coordinate with Purchased Product Value Stream (PPVS) to procure Mark Quality materials to meet accelerated production schedules
  • Hands-on oversight of inventory and replenishment of production materials
  • Monitor production metrics and presents updates to leads and management
  • Partner with other production planners and manufacturing personnel to ensure production deliveries are met
  • Coordinates activities with purchasing material, equipment, and services.
  • Plans and directs production, including requirements planning, shop floor scheduling, inventory control, and make-or-buy decisions
  • Work with procurement personnel to request quotes from vendors, place orders, track and inventory materials, and coordinate final inspection stocking activities
  • Work with the IT team to develop necessary Oracle infrastructure to track and control production activities
  • Partner with outside PRTs to procure development materials of varying pedigrees to support development builds

The selected candidate will report to 7521 and at times support 7522.

Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$87,400 - $168,800

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus 5 years of production planning experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in manufacturing environment with knowledge of industry standard Manufacturing Resources Planning (MRP) system and related business practices. (i.e. Oracle, SAP, ERP, or similar).
  • An active DOE Q clearance, or equivalent is required to start
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Sigma 15 access

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma concepts, methods, and tools (visual pull signals, flow, kanbans, standard work processes, etc.) and experience in the application of the tools toward continuous improvement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in diverse team environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or project management skills.
  • Experience working with DOD, DOE, or other highly regulated manufacturing operations.
  • Familiar with industry standard quality management systems (AS9100, ISO9000).
  • Certified in APICS professional certification programs (Production and Inventory Management, Integrated Resource Management, or Supply Chain Professional).
  • Evidence of high academic achievement.
  • Experience in procuring materials to drawings and specifications, following standard corporate processes.

About Our Team:

Advanced Programs (7520), will integrate, adapt, and grow Sandia National Laboratories (SNL's) new product realization capabilities to meet the evolving needs of SNL and the greater Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). Departments 7521 and 7522 are integrated high functional teams that cooperatively tackle a variety of product realization challenges for the NSE and others.

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
