Qualifications:
Survey of Chemistry Lab (Chem 105L) accompanies the Survey of Chemistry 105 lecture and provides an introduction to topics in general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry, primarily for pre-nursing and kinesiology majors. Students will carry out experimental work supervised by the instructor.
This course will be taught in person on the Moraga campus during the 2026 Fall term on Thursdays from 8:30 - 11:30 am.
In addition to teaching, the instructor is expected to hold regular office hours (a minimum of one hour per week) in order to provide students with support outside of the classroom.
The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field; and undergraduate teaching experience in organic chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology, OR teaching experience in any subfield of chemistry and research experience in organic and/or biochemistry. Preference will be given to those who have previously taught the course or CHEM 002, CHEM-003, CHEM-104, CHEM-104L, CHEM-106, CHEM-106L, BIOCHEM-101, BIOCHEM-101L, BIOCHEM-102, BIOCHEM-102L.
To ensure consistency between sections of this multi-section course, instructors will faithfully implement the syllabus, experiments, laboratory activities, assessments, and/or grading standards provided by the Lab Coordinator or Department Chair.
Candidates must reside in California.
The salary range for this position is $6,208 - $8,590 (2 units) and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
