Patient Transport Technician

Day shift start times range from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Weekend availability is required.

Position Summary
The Patient Transport Technician plays a key role in supporting safe, efficient patient movement throughout the Medical Center. Under the direction of a transportation supervisor or manager, this position is responsible for transporting patients and patient care equipment across various departments in a 24/7 operation. This includes assisting patients who require moderate to total support with lifting, turning, transferring, and repositioning using wheelchairs, beds, gurneys, ambulettes, and approved lift equipment. Additional responsibilities may include limited clerical tasks, equipment cleaning and disinfection, specimen and supply transport, and assisting with decedent affairs. Shifts may vary, and weekend coverage is required.

Essential Functions

  • Safely transport patients to and from nursing units and ancillary departments via wheelchair, gurney, bed, or ambulette.
  • Use lift devices and safety equipment to transfer patients between surfaces such as beds, wheelchairs, gurneys, vehicles, and transport units.
  • Set up orthopedic frames, traction, and trapeze equipment according to physician orders.
  • Transport deceased individuals to the designated holding area and assist with release procedures as needed.
  • Provide moderate to total assistance in transferring and repositioning patients.
  • Support family members, visitors, and vendors as requested.
  • Assist with supply delivery and equipment movement.
  • Transport medical records, imaging CDs, X-rays, specimens, mail, reports, and other materials as assigned.
  • Clean and disinfect patient care equipment to maintain safety and readiness.

This role is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, safety‑minded, and committed to supporting high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Your qualifications should include:

Minimum Education: High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience: One year in a similar healthcare position or customer service field.

Req. Certification/Licensure: BLS from American Heart Association obtained within three weeks of hire, and Current, valid Driver’s license

Preferred Education: Understands basic medical terminology, able to communicate clearly and succinctly with patients and the entire care team. Transport or lift team experience

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $22.73 - $29.71 / hour
