Job Description

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Research Coordinator for multiple health services research and communication grants. Many of the projects are related to HIV prevention and care and/or health disparities . The role involves coordinating and carrying out the day-to-day activities of the projects.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of health services research and/or public health (e.g., qualitative methods, survey methods, public health messaging, etc.) and will be a highly motivated individual who can work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience working in an academic setting, engaging with underserved and vulnerable populations, and possess experience beyond that of a Graduate Research Assistant. The candidate should also have experience working with the community (e.g., feeling comfortable going out into the community to build relationships, discuss the study, and recruit participants).

Job Duties

  • Organizes and leads weekly project team meetings (e.g., drafts agenda, presents data [e.g., demographic updates of participants enrolled], schedules meetings, sends calendar invites, reserves rooms, ensures computer setup works, and that meetings start on time, etc.).
  • Submits and maintains IRB research protocols (e.g., initial submissions, renewals, amendments).
  • Carries out compliance-related tasks (e.g., maintains records and regulatory forms, performs internal audits of regulatory documents).
  • Advertises, screens, and recruits research participants. This includes meeting with community partners and organizations, distributing flyers, and drafting/sending emails about the study.
  • Explains processes and procedures to educate participants regarding the research.
  • Collects participant information; processes documents and enters information into a computerized database or participant report form.
  • Schedules research participants and/or community members for interviews, surveys, and other activities specific to the research protocol. This includes checking participant interest forms and lists of potential participants daily during the recruitment phase, with timely contact and follow-up to schedule research-related activities.
  • Conducts qualitative interviews and rapid analysis of qualitative data.
  • Administers surveys online or in the field (e.g., clinics, neighborhoods, communities, public spaces, college campuses, etc.).
  • Conducts literature and/or social media reviews (e.g., health promotion ads, videos), and assists in manuscript and grant preparation (e.g., prepares tables, formats references).
  • Orders supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned, including managing and organizing finances and research data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to work independently and proactively
    • Must be able to meet project deadlines
    • Must be proactive in following up on action items
  • Must be able to work successfully as a member of an interdisciplinary team that includes staff, faculty, health care professionals, and national-level leaders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English

Work Authorization Requirement:
