Summary
The Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology section is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the clinical operations team at the Ben Taub Location. Clinical duties include supporting care for established patients that have seen a physician in the hospital or outpatient clinic setting. The position will be under Dr. Robert Jay Sealock
Job Duties
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations; work closely with Ben Taub physicians on treatment plan, follow-up, medication management.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments to follow outlined treatment plan.
- Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
- Perform medical record review, follow developed protocols, determine appropriate patient scheduling, assist with monitoring diagnostic results and patient care progress/processes as requested by the provider, and participate in quality reviews.
- Assess learning needs and educate patients and family as appropriate concerning disease management.
- Ensures that referrals to other specialists, radiological, endoscopic and laboratory testing are coordinated with patients and referring physicians.
- Supports clinical research and trials, in close collaboration with Ben Taub physicians.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: Master’s degree in in Nursing.
- Experience Required:None required.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP), and specialty certification as required by department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
