Job Description

Summary

The Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas is seeking a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). The ideal candidate should have experience in the evaluation and treatment of voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders as well as head and neck cancer. The ability to practice independently is preferred. The successful candidate will work within a growing multidisciplinary team of laryngologists, Head & Neck surgeons, other SLPs, and SLP students at BCM ENT Clinic located at the Jamail Specialty Center.

Job Duties

  • Evaluates and treats outpatient adults with head and neck cancer, communication disorders, voice disorders, upper airway disorders, and/or swallowing disorders.
  • Schedules appointments, discusses patient progress and/or status with physicians and other professionals.
  • Provides patient/family education.
  • Monitors patient needs.
  • Documents daily treatment and evaluation results.
  • May supervise student externs.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Texas State Licensure as a Speech Pathologist from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FEES and/or MBSS training.
  • Experience with flexible and rigid videostroboscopy training.
  • Experience with in head and neck cancer and laryngectomy management.
