DescriptionThe Department of Research Administration Applications in Information Technology Services at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Business Analyst. This role is remote but must align with our weekday business hours of 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. EST.
About the Opportunity
This position serves as a liaison between the WVU Research Office and the Research IT department at WVU. The Business Analyst provides business process solutions and technical support to meet departmental and institutional research needs. Working with domain experts, the Business Analyst will elicit and identify business requirements, address usability concerns, and document solutions. As a member of the Research IT team, this role supports team members throughout the project lifecycle and software development lifecycle. The Business Analyst also assists in documenting both business requirements and comprehensive solutions for multiple projects.

What You'll Do
Provide documentation support for requirements gathering, process analysis, gap analysis, design of new functionality, and product testing.
Participate in project walkthroughs: business requirements gathering, process flows, design walkthroughs, functional test plans and implementation sessions.
Provide support, maintenance, and triage for research administration software, including WVU Research Administration Portal (WRAP), WVU+kc, Research Application Administration (RAA), and Kuali Build.
Manage written communication between stakeholders and internal business units.
Create and manage functional requirement documents for in-house development of software applications to support research administration and compliance.
Manage and communicate product bugs and feature enhancement requests using issue tracking software (Jira Service Management)
Coordinate and assist with system testing and production validation.
Develop and maintain documentation for the research administration lifecycle process.
Work with business users, subject matter experts, and technical staff in resolving system-related issues.
Manage Research IT team knowledge base articles.
Provide quality assurance testing to facilitate system enhancements and bug fixes.
Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
Communicate information clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner to team members and business users. Foster an environment of teamwork and professionalism.
Maintain professional relationships with colleagues including business analysts, software developers, application administrators, and business partners.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience in a relevant field
A minimum of four (4) years of combined experience involving:
Experience implementing business practices and strategies
Experience collaborating with business units to gather requirements
Experience in an IT field
Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
