Job Description

A lab technician position is available for a highly motivated and experienced individual who is interested in hands-on translational research. This individual will be an integral member of our research team and will largely be responsible for leading a research effort in translational medicine, with an emphasis on regenerative medicine and developing cancer cures. While being assigned to a supervisor to provide guidance and to oversee your work, you will be responsible for designing and executing your experiments.

As a bench scientist, this position requires basic biochemical, molecular and cell biology skills including day-to-day cell culture, molecular cloning, and lentivirus production. This position will focus on two projects: 1) isolating, expanding and performing molecular studies on mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from umbilical cords. There will be opportunities to participate in the development of novel therapies, to conduct biological assays to characterize these therapeutics in vitro and in vivo, and to assist with cutting edge humanized mouse studies. This project will also involve computational science skills to perform deep molecular analysis of the MSCs to determine their regenerative capacity; and 2) the development of targeted lentiviral vectors for in vivo delivery of genetic payloads such as checkpoint blockade and CAR T therapies. As an integral member of our team, you will also be responsible for performing literature searches, writing up methods and materials, results, figure legends and constructing figures for grant proposals, progress reports, and manuscripts. You will be responsible for presenting your research at lab meetings on a rotating basis.

This position also shares responsibilities for lab maintenance and operation. Applicant with 1+ years of lab experience with strong background in both molecular and cell biology techniques including culturing of primary and immortalized cells, lentivirus production, and CAR T generation is preferred. The successful applicant will also require computational science skills.
