Dental College of Georgia (DCG), Department of Periodontics, at Augusta University (AU) is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor who will also hold an administrative post to serve as the graduate program director of the Advanced Education in Periodontics program. An outstanding clinician and educator is sought with an outgoing personality, strong emotional Intelligence, and ability to lead a nationally recognized periodontics residency program. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.

Responsibilities

Teaching

Clinical/Patient Care
Demonstrates dignity and respect for patient and family for patient and family knowledge, values, beliefs, and cultural background in the planning and delivery of care.
Provides information sharing, ensuring patients and families receive timely, complete, and accurate information in order to effectively participate in care and decision-making.
Encourages patient and family participation in care and decision-making at the level they choose.

Research/Scholarship
Publication of at least one peer reviewed paper a year, or 0.75 depending on effort and rank.

Service
Service on at least one intramural DCG committee and attendance of the annual AAP meetings with service on the post-graduate committee.

Required Qualifications

DMD/DDS or foreign equivalent, completion of CODA accredited Periodontology residency program, Diplomate, American Board of Periodontology.
Teaching license or unrestricted license to practice dentistry from the Georgia Board of Dentistry, and training as an IALD Instructor.
Minimum 5 years experience as a faculty member in an academic setting, teaching experience in graduate clinics and pre-doctoral clinics.

Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

- Evidence of ability as a teacher;

- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence for ongoing and significant scholarly activity.
Associate or full professor, IV sedation permit.
Experience in private or university based periodontal practice, with experience in diagnosing and surgical and non-surgical therapy of periodontitis, placement of implants, bone grafts, sinus augmentation, gingival grafts, laser-based therapy.

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
