What Your Job Will Be Like:

The Enterprises Collaboration Services team (ECS, Dept. 9783) is seeking a highly motivated, self-starting SharePoint architect with strong system, authentication, software, and architecture experience. The candidate should be able to demonstrate strong technical leadership skills as well as strategic vision for SharePoint 2016, Office 365, and other Web-Based Services within ECS’ web portfolio. This position will require collaboration and cross-discipline teamwork with software engineers, solution architects, management, and customers to deliver innovative and robust solutions at the enterprise level.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Develop strategic enterprise solutions within SharePoint that reduce life-cycle costs and position Sandia synergistically for future mission work
  • Provide architectural vision and direction for SharePoint services on premises and in the cloud. Research solutions for problems that span multiple areas of expertise such as hardware, software development, authentication, IIS, systems programming, data management, database development, systems security, networking, and information assurance
  • Perform duties as a Technical Team Lead for the SharePoint Architecture and Operations team.
  • Evaluate, test, analyze and implement corporate reporting, search, web services, and information systems that are highly available and appropriately scaled
  • Be responsible for resolving complex issues related to application functionality, authentication, and performance
  • Develop strategic vision for new technologies and functionality within the SharePoint framework. Technical liaison to corporate computing, networking, cyber, and web development organizations. Communicate and present business strategy, technical direction, and overarching benefit to end users and senior management
  • Monitor the health of SQL Databases and perform necessary database maintenance and tuning. Negotiates with stakeholders to determine scope and budget of work activities which advance business objectives and client needs for work initiatives with repeatable processes involving well established architecture
  • Performs feasibility analysis for complex projects involving existing architecture. Ensures its accuracy and recommends alternative solutions within project strategy and deliverable prioritization
  • Participate in audits and preparations associated with Information Security, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery
  • Participate in the execution of IS Service Management (ITSM) controls (e.g., incident, problem and change management), including after-hours operations and maintenance
  • Provide mentoring/training to others on the team

The selected applicant can be a remote worker located in any U.S. State or District of Columbia. Regular or periodic travel to your assigned work location may be required.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field plus 5 years of experience; or equivalent (AS + 9 years or no degree + 13 years)
  • Included in the above:
  • At least 4 years of SharePoint Server administration experience
  • Experience configuring security for both internal and external parties
  • Experience with authentication providers, such as Kerberos, NTLM, Basic and Forms Based Authentication (FBA)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Solid understanding of system development methodologies and change management best practices
  • 6+ years of SharePoint experience including implementation, configuration, taxonomy design and complex workflow implementation
  • Extensive experience with Reporting Services (SSRS), Integration Services (SSIS), and Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Experience in strategic leadership of information systems, architecture, or service design
  • Extensive understanding of object-oriented scripting languages, such as PowerShell
  • 6+ years of Microsoft IIS administration experience
  • Office 365 governance and administration including SharePoint Online, Teams, Power BI, etc.
  • Development and integration using technologies including HTML5, .NET, C#, RESTful API, jQuery, CSS, InfoPath, Visual Studio are a plus
  • Automation and scripting experience using and PowerShell
  • ITIL-Centric, ITSM controls, platforms, and best practices
  • Understanding the importance of providing innovative, yet solid and reliable services to the Laboratory
  • Demonstrated strong strategic thinking skill, and ability to see and convey the big picture; critical thinking and synthesis; ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to a fast-paced, customer-focused operation; self-starting; excellent listening and communications
  • Willingness and ability to learn and lead group processes and initiatives, and a desire to contribute toward internal organizational and process improvements enthusiastically and proactively
  • DOE Q-level security clearance

About Our Team:

Enterprise Collaboration Services (ECS/Dept. 9783) is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and evolving the following enterprise services across the Sandia networks (Cloud, SRN, SCN, ECN, and SPN) to promote collaboration and support Sandia’s mission, while keeping our production environments (cloud and on-prem) stable and secure.

  • M365: includes Exchange Online (Email), Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and the implemented micro-services within M365
  • Enterprise Messaging: includes Exchange (on-prem), Managed File Transfer (MFT), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), etc.
  • SharePoint Development: includes Power Apps and Power Automate
  • SharePoint Infrastructure
  • Power Platform: includes Power BI Report Server and Power BI Online
  • Skype: 8551 provides customer support/9783 provides sever support only

Salary Range:

$104,100 - $207,100

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
