Job Description
Summary
Provides patient outreach, education and counseling in one of eight Baylor Teen Health Clinic locations. May also perform these functions in neighboring schools and community centers. Develop relationships with school administration to insure they have awareness of our location(s) and services. Able to practice therapy techniques around depression and anxiety, and educate patients on risky behaviors.
The Baylor Teen Health Clinic currently provides pregnancy testing, family planning, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and HIV/AIDS education and screening, primary healthcare, and case management services to teens, their partners, and adolescents in Harris County. The clinics provide services to teens from the age of 13-24.
Services We Provide:
- Comprehensive Exams (Male & Female)
- Gynecological services
- Birth control and family planning
- Sexually transmitted disease screening and treatment
- Primary healthcare
- Immunizations
- HIV/AIDS education and screening
Job Duties
- Interviews clients and relatives to obtain social history relevant to medical problems and history.
- Assesses each client during initial contact.
- Documents progress after client visits.
- Answers client calls and assesses need for services.
- Plans a course of treatment or refers clients to appropriate agencies and physicians.
- Conducts independent psychotherapies to assist patients in achieving positive psychological or social adjustments.
- Serves as a liaison between medical and nursing staff, clients, relatives and appropriate outside agencies.
- Arranges transportation for clients to physicians’ appointments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- No experience required.
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern (LPC – I), Licensed Psychological Associate-Intern (LPA-I) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT),Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with HIV positive patients.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
