Job Description:The Department of Mathematics, Computer & Information Science at the State University of New York at Old Westbury is seeking applications for a Lecturer in Mathematics beginning in Fall 2024. Candidates must be willing to teach a broad range of lower division courses in Mathematics at the undergraduate level and possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Courses we have most commonly in need are Remedial Math, College Algebra, Applied Statistics, Quantitative Decision Making, Precalculus, and Calculus.
Experience teaching statistics or knowledge of statistics is a plus.
The position is a 4-4 teaching load and courses are expected to be in-person. In addition to the teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in service activities including, but not limited to, coordination of lower division sections and adjuncts, advising students, committee responsibilities, program assessment and curriculum development.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or related field.
Demonstrated competencies in Mathematics.
Teaching experience in Mathematics.
A commitment to teaching/mentoring diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching or tutoring a culturally and economically diverse student population.
A successful record of collaborative work and/or supervisory work.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: up to $62,000.00 commensurate with education and experience (plus location pay $3,400.00 per year)
