What You Will Achieve

The clinical manufacturing team leader is part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for cGMP production of phase I/II clinical drug substance supporting the Pfizer Biotherapeutics portfolio.

The successful candidate will lead a 2nd shift a team of 5-7 colleagues responsible for production support operations including weigh & dispense, media & buffer formulation, glasswash and autoclave.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Responsible for production support operations and process technology transfer to ensure the on time delivery of high quality materials and solutions to support drug substance manufacturing for clinical use.

  • Direct reporting and career development responsibility for a team of 5-7 technicians.

  • Lead troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and control systems. May perform operations as needed.

  • Lead/Support the design of new equipment or system improvements, changes or upgrades as required.

  • Strong bioprocess knowledge required to provide guidance or direction for team and effectively communicate and/or escalate process related issues.

  • Coordination of team activities and scheduling of operations with other area managers.

  • Cross functional collaboration with BRD lab scientists, Quality Unit, site and network manufacturing facilities, and Engineering on interdepartmental and cross site initiatives.

  • Support all investigations and audits as needed.

  • Provide off-shift and on call support when necessary.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  •  BS in a biological or engineering discipline with 5+ years of relevant GMP experience, completion of 2 years of undergraduate work with 7 years of equivalent experience in a GMP bioprocessing facility, or High School diploma with 9 years of equivalent experience in a GMP bioprocessing facility.

  • Experience in a GMP environment with increasing responsibility is required.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex processing issues and ability to make decisions with minimal guidance required. 

Nice-to-Have

  • Understanding of solution preparation and/or inventory management is strongly desired.

  • Demonstrated capability to work across functional areas such as development, maintenance, quality and regulatory.

  • Good communication skills, verbal and written, are required.

  • Working knowledge of automated production systems with ability to manipulate and troubleshoot systems.

  
 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to climb flights of stairs and be standing for ~1-2 hours at a time.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a 2nd shift position (2:30pm – 11:00pm).

  • Ability to work off shift (Nights and Weekends) as needed; non-routine

  • Ability to work in a clean room environment

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $88,300.00 to $147,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
