About the Role:
We are looking for an innovative Scientist to join the AminoX team as the primary member of the research and development team responsible for generating the scientific and technical results to support a commercialization end-point. Reporting Director, Synthetic Biology and collaborating closely with the AminoX project team and faculty and Wyss Business Development, you will help drive the scientific program forward, in accordance with the agreed-upon project goals and timelines. As a translational institute and member of our Advanced Technology Team, you will be collaborating with various project teams and exposed to many different technologies in areas ranging from therapeutics and diagnostics to synthetic biology and materials science. You may also have the unique opportunity to transition into a newly formed start-up company.

What You'll Do:
Design deep learning models to engineer proteins to develop a new class of non- standard amino acid-based therapeutics
Design and conduct computational experiments, analyze data, and propose candidate acceptance criteria for testing and validation of candidate targets.
Present key results at group meetings, project teams, and stakeholders
Contribute to internal reports, scientific publications, and intellectual property filings
Actively supports and collaborates with other areas of the Synthetic Biology platform and the Advanced Technology Team as it relates to new technology
development, community building, administrative efficiencies, and operational protocols.
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion and cultural awareness through interactions and communications with others.

Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Bioinformatics, BioEngineering, synthetic biology or related discipline
A minimum of 4 years of experience in machine learning, protein design, and/or synthetic biology

Additional Qualifications and Skills :
PhD in BioEngineering, Computational Drug Design, or Machine Learning, strongly preferred
Expertise in protein engineering for therapeutic applications is strongly preferred
Strong understanding of fundamental concepts in protein design
Experience with Python or Matlab is preferred
Experience in authoring and critically reviewing technical documents, study protocols and reports related to assay development, qualification, validation, and clinical sample testing a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, documentation skills and attention to detail, with the proven ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Full-time post-graduate industry experience with a focus on product development is preferred.
Experience with the design, engineering, and production of protein modeling is strongly preferred
Expertise in non-standard amino acid design is strongly preferred
