What You Will Achieve

You will be part of a dynamic team of experts who form Pfizer’s Environment, Health & Safety division. Due to the importance of this team for Pfizer’s employees and patients, the organization relies heavily on its team members’ timely actions and decision-making ability.

You will be responsible for activities related to interpreting, recommending and compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations/company policies. You will also assist in planning the changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements. You will support the team in preparing contracts for licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal firms, monitoring waste handling and organizing spill-control teams. Your knowledge base will help you in updating environmental and spill-control manuals and procedures.

As a Senior Associate, your ability to meet team targets will help in completing important deliverables on time. Your innovative use of communication tools and techniques will make it easy to manage difficult issues and help in establishing consensus between teams.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Develop, implement and monitor organization industrial hygiene and ergonomics programs and policies to ensure compliance with Corporate, state and local regulations.
  • Undertaking IH surveys and evaluating situations in the workplace;
  • Assessing risks to employee health arising from many different factors, such as chemicals, noise, poor lighting, ventilation and ergonomics
  • Manage external hygiene consultancy and analysis services and assure the quality of their deliverables.
  • Support Global EHS initiatives in health and hygiene e.g. OEL, Potent drug safety program & medical surveillance, etc
  • Recommending remedies or control methods to improve IH
  • Deciding on or devising the most appropriate solution for IH issues
  • Training organizational staff on issues such as ergonomics, chemical safety and biological safety
  • Provide direction and coordination to the site in maintaining industrial hygiene
  • Develop and implement all relevant industrial hygiene standards for the site
  • Responsible for overseeing & ensuring compliance to statutory S & H regulations related to IH.
  • Check and evaluate the effectiveness of actions taken or proposed to be taken to prevent occupational health issues.
  • Develop training matrix in coordination with EHS heads and ensure suitable training and education programs are rolled out for the prevention of health issues
  • Make sure Health Risk Assessment is available for identified activities
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Environment, Health & Safety (Local applications) computer databases and utilize a wide variety of other internal and external databases
  • Train other individuals with training responsibilities so that they can communicate information to others within their organizations, as needed.
  • Perform site inspections & recommend, monitor and implement CAPA as required
  • Coordinate and report necessary details related to the Environment, Health & Safety (Local applications) management and performance parameters
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and inquiries involving environmental, health and safety issues.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Master’s degree in  Industrial Hygiene or equivalent
  • > 5 years in handling Industrial Hygiene activities in chemical / pharma industry
  • Knowledge and skilled in Industrial measurement techniques and equipment and taking corrective actions against the identified health issues to colleagues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, creativity in problem solving, flexibility, and excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer operation and experience with MS Office, especially Word, Excel, Outlook

Nice-to-Have

  • CIH (certified industrial hygienist) or BOSH certification  preferable
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Knowledge on NIOSH IH standards and other international IH measurement standards and exposure limits
