Summary

The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery is actively recruiting an experienced Research Coordinator II to join the Trauma Surgery research team at Ben Taub Hospital. This individual will support Principal Investigators (PIs) in planning and executing clinical trials focused on trauma. The coordinator will oversee daily research operations, including scheduling, participant screenings, enrollments, randomizations, and progress monitoring. The ideal candidate should have experience with EFIC studies and knowledge of IRB processes. The incumbent will collaborate with PIs, research leadership, pharmacies, sponsors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with federal regulations, sponsor guidelines, and departmental policies, contributing to the ethical and successful conduct of trauma research at Ben Taub Hospital.

We are looking for an ideal candidate who can work independently with a strong sense of professionalism and is willing to accommodate occasional irregular working hours. It's crucial that the candidate has a proven grasp of regulatory affairs and IRB processes. Moreover, this role entails precise data collection, meticulous documentation, effective organization, and a commitment to ensuring the safety of research participants. The standard working hours for this position are typically from 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break. However, we prefer candidates who are available to occasionally work during weekends as needed to support protocol requirements.

• Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments. 20%

• Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study. 20%

• Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research. 15%

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
• One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or Medical degree.
• Experience with running clinical trials.  
• Bilingual in Spanish highly desired.
• Ability to work irregular hours, occasional weekends. 
• Current certification (Certified Clinical Research Professional-CCRP, Certified Clinical Research Coordinator-CCRC) from a clinical research organization (SoCRA or ACRP).
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as exceptional interpersonal skills when interacting.
