Job Description
The Human Resource Representative (HR Rep, HRR) works within a shared services model to provide exceptional service to the Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE) organization. The HR Rep is assigned one or more PSE divisions and is the first point of contact for all HR support needs. As part of a team, they also provide supplemental support to other PSE divisions when necessary. This position is hybrid with the option to work from home a percentage of the time.
The Human Resource Representative is responsible for administering personnel-related activities within the PSE directorate; providing advice, support, and counsel to management, staff, and potential hires on personnel policies and procedures; supporting the student process; editing initial drafts of position descriptions; and assisting with the annual processes for performance evaluation and merit/bonus review.
The following standard services are provided by the HR Rep:
Provide support to Hiring Managers in all aspects of the hiring process
Create/review /revise job descriptions
Create job requisitions and follow/monitor all job requisitions.
Assist in the recruiting and hiring process in Workday Recruiter
Facilitate and guide the interview process in partnership with the hiring manager, group administrative assistant and Talent Acquisition representative
Coordinate extensions for term employees including students and postdocs
Process employee changes in the Workday HR system
Process Joint appointments and renewals
Coordinate actions with the Argonne Immigration Office as necessary
Communicate relevant and timely HR messages to assigned divisions
Meet with line managers and division directors' when required
Utilize available tools and technology to improve processes
May assist with HR Manager to process promotions and salary adjustments within assigned divisions
May assist in the Performance Appraisal Process (as requested) within assigned divisions
May assist in the merit and bonus review (as requested) within assigned divisions
Participate in special projects related to HR for PSE as assigned
Position Requirements
Considerable ability to handle a variety of sensitive information and human resources matters
High level of accuracy and the ability to pay attention to detail, solve problems and set priorities
Considerable knowledge, skill, and experience in processing highly diversified personnel
Experience processing education related appointments and hiring foreign nationals preferred
Ability to interpret and implement Argonne’s Human Resources, Laboratory and Division policies and procedures
Oral and written communications skills and the ability to work with internal and external contacts to achieve goals
Demonstrated skills in communicating effectively, using tact and discretion and in developing interpersonal relationships and handling conflicts
Knowledge of Workday or similar HRIS preferred.
Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Outlook and Excel

PA2 Level: Bachelor’s and 2+ years, some occupations may require graduate degree or equivalent
