Position Overview

Accessible Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Systems (ATLAS), a research center at the University of Kansas (KU), is seeking a Technology Project Manager to be part of a high performing technology team that is focused on designing and developing next generation learning solutions that are cross platform compatible. Day-to-day activities will include managing project activities initiated through customer requests. This position will serve as the liaison between all project teams assigned to address the request by managing communication, timeline, and scope. The Technology Project Manager will ensure issues in resolving/addressing the requests are brought to leadership’s attention timely, and the direction given is understood and implemented correctly by the development team. This position will follow the project activities through to completion and ensure all documentation is complete.

Job Description

70% - Under minimal supervision, manages projects or activities that require a high degree of specialized knowledge. Activities will be initiated from customer requests. Facilitate meetings to discover requirements. Working with technology leadership, develop plans and manage/oversee to successful completion.

15% - Conducts research, provides data, makes recommendations, and implements solutions to achieve goals and objectives. As part of the daily project manager work, note opportunities to improve processes, adjust workflow, use data more efficiently to drive decisions. Share these ideas regularly with the technology leadership team.

10% - Weekly review of project status reports developed by project teams looking for inconsistencies in data, missing data, disconnected dates, etc. Work directly with that team’s project manager to correct report prior to senior management review.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), unclassified position.
This position allows for a remote or hybrid work location for well-qualified candidates. A remote position may be required to travel to Lawrence up to four times per year.
This position will require attendance at regularly scheduled meetings, onsite or through telecommunication platforms.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/ GED and five years of relevant experience or an Associate’s degree and three years relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field and one year of relevant experience.
One year technology project management experience.
One year technology requirements gathering experience.
Experience in training and managing user acceptance testing as outlined in application materials.
Experience in communicating business requirements to stakeholders as outlined in application materials and interview.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience analyzing issues, developing plans to address and bring issues to successful closure.
Experience with the Agile software development process.
Experience with customer service.
Experience developing quality assurance test plans and conducting testing.
Strong organizational skills with proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
