Postdoctoral Fellow in Synthetic Organic Chemistry
The Moffitt Cancer Center is ranked the No. 6 Cancer Hospital in the USA and is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in the state of Florida. Moffitt is a modern facility on the University of South Florida campus that conducts research on various aspects of cancer biology with an emphasis on translational research. It is the third-largest Cancer Center in the US based on patient volume.
The outstanding research environment includes a new dedicated research building, state-of-the-art cores (for example: chemical biology, flow cytometry, microarray, proteomics, microscopy) and animal facilities as well as access to clinical material. The Center houses excellent NMR and mass spectrometry instruments as well as excellent equipment for parallel synthesis and purification.
The Lopchuk Lab at Moffitt Cancer Center is looking to hire a postdoctoral fellow in the area of synthetic organic chemistry.
Position Highlights:
- A variety of projects are ongoing in the Lopchuk lab including the development of novel methods for C–C, C–N, and C–S bond formation, the total synthesis of bioactive natural products, and the structure-based drug design of anticancer compounds.
- Our lab is grounded in synthetic organic chemistry but operates in a highly collaborative environment within the Department of Drug Discovery and the Molecular Medicine Program.
The Ideal Candidate:
- The successful applicant will have extensive experience in small molecule synthetic organic chemistry (methodology, total synthesis and/or medicinal chemistry)
- A demonstrated track record of independent research
- A desire to work in a highly collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate for this position will focus on developing new reactions with applications to the synthesis of pharmaceuticals.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- MD or PhD in in organic, medicinal chemistry or relevant field.
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry by their start date.
