Performs laboratory procedures according to standardized protocols and reports results. Receives regular supervision for most assignments. Experience with aseptic techniques is preferred and prior experience in basic immunology protocols such as flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blots, and/or immunohistochemistry is highly desired. Individual will need to be comfortable working with human samples and is expected to perform routine work with minimal supervision after appropriate training and time in the position.
Responsibilities will include:
- maintains lab inventory, prepares common lab buffers, and re-order supplies as needed
- maintains donor database and organizes blood collections, either on site or through the Rheumatology Clinic
- processes blood samples and performs basic research protocols (flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blots, etc.)
- prepares written reports and/or presents work at lab meetings
BS/BA/MS degree in one of the biological sciences or chemistry, OR equivalent education and experience Basic knowledge of routine technical/functional laboratory procedures. Basic computer skills to include knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software. Must be detail oriented and work as a team player. Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to work independently and adhere to strict deadlines required. Must be professional, personable and able to deal with diverse personalities and cultures.
