What you'll do:
- Independently complete all cell culture, microscopy, and associated molecular biology tasks and protocols, which are integral to the tissue fabrication.
- Assist senior staff with animal studies, including assisting with surgery and animal checks.
- Develop and validate experimental protocols with limited supervision from senior staff.- Present experimental results at meetings within the Wyss Institute.
- Carry out routine laboratory maintenance, assist in administrative tasts, and perform general laboratory responsibilities, including but not limited to: maintaining budgets, equipment, supplies, inventory, and reporting laboratory results
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
Basic QualificationsWhat you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, biomedical engineering, or related field with at least 2 years of direct cell culture or related experience required.
- Education may count towards year of experience.
This position will be based on our campus in Boston, MA and will require on-campus presence. Subject to business needs, the Wyss Institute generally supports flexible work arrangements.

Additional Qualifications and SkillsDesirable Skills:
- Advanced degree strongly preferred in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, biomedical engineering or related field.
- Experience with in vitro analytical techniques to assess the cell viability of tissue constructs.
- Experience with microfluidics.
- Experience working with induced pluripotent stem cells.
- Experience with 3D cell and tissue cultures.
- Willingness to work outside of his/her discipline to accomplish project goals.
- Excellent molecular biology skills.
- Experience with flow cytometry, ELISAs, PCR, and microscopy. Animal work experience.
- Proven ability to draft and implement lab protocols. Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong work ethic, communication skills, and goal-oriented personality.
Offer contingent on successful completion of pre-placement medical evaluation.
This is a one year term position ending on 1/2/2024 with the possibility of renewal.
