ROLE SUMMARY

Last year, Pfizer launched a new Digital Health, Medicines & AI business unit with the goal of bringing industry-leading, revenue-generating digital health and medicines products and AI capabilities to market, moving at lightspeed to improve patient experience and health outcomes.  This role will assist the Lead Compliance Counsel in building an effective compliance program to support this new business and providing proactive compliance support on related cross-functional projects to support the mitigation of risk in this new area.  This role will also involve providing compliance counsel support on significant M&A deals, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, co-promotes and equity investments, particularly those related to digital health and artificial intelligence. In addition, this role will be assist in driving Pfizer’s responsible Artificial Intelligence efforts, including policy implementation and development of controls to ensure risk mitigation in the use of AI.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and engage in proactive compliance activities for the Digital Health, Medicines & AI business including: (i) identification, assessment and mitigation of risk; (ii) supporting development of new policies, guidance and procedures  (iii) training and outreach efforts, including development and/or execution of training curriculum in key areas; (iv) anticipation of emerging trends and changes to the political, legal and regulatory landscape by working with the businesses and other colleagues; and (v) development of additional tools and controls to drive compliance and enhance a culture of integrity.

  • This role will entail significant work on high-priority, cross-functional projects to mitigate risk in the development, distribution and commercialization of digital health and medicines products.

  • This role will also require providing compliance counsel on M&A deals, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, co-promotes and equity investments, particularly those involving digital health and medicines products and artificial intelligence.  M&A Compliance support for these transactions includes conducting due diligence to assess compliance risks in significant transactions, focusing on potential partners’ compliance with the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, comparable international anti-bribery legislation, US healthcare and regulatory laws (focused on the AntiKickback Statute and the False Claims Act).  We are also responsible for integrating acquired entities into Pfizer’s Compliance program.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • J.D. or foreign equivalent degree

  • Minimum 10 years' legal experience

  • Must be a member of the Bar

  • Experience at a top law firm, government or in-house involving practical application of US healthcare laws  - e.g., investigations, risk assessments, compliance program development, product counsel, R&D counsel, regulatory counsel, or similar experience

  • Prior experience counseling clients and/or developing compliance programs focused on digital/tech. law, artificial intelligence, software medical devices, digital health, or other rapidly evolving areas of law

  • Experience conducting M&A due diligence, contract reviews, and integration planning activities for a large multinational company

  • Excellent written and oral skills a must as is ability to translate complex information

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $199,500.00 to $319,700.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Salary range does not apply to the Tampa, FL location.

Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and/or eligibility.
