Job Description

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in muscle biology or regeneration? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

You will be embedded within a vibrant and translational research team as part of an ongoing MRC project grant. You will work alongside basic scientists and clinicians to better understand the molecular mechanisms of skeletal muscle atrophy in chronic heart failure and diabetes. One key focus will be exploring the regulation of muscle regeneration in these conditions. The project will combine experiments in both humans and animal models and you will be integrated into an internationally leading team of researchers.

To apply for this role you must have a PhD (or be close to completion) in biomedical science or a closely allied discipline. You should also have a background in muscle biology, alongside strong cellular biology skills and able to perform relevant techniques including Western Blotting, qPCR, and immunohistochemistry. Prior experience working with cell culture is essential. Past evidence working with muscle stem cells would be advantageous. Experience in disease conditions and/models is a strength. Evidence of leading projects independently and a strong experience of managing junior colleagues is essential.
