The Pillon Lab is seeking a technician to carry out routine laboratory procedures as directed. The lab's research program applies biochemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, and computational biology to understand the function and regulation of disease-linked RNA binding proteins.
Recent relevant publications from the principal investigator include:
-Cryo-EM Structures of the SARS-CoV-2 Endoribonuclease Nsp15. Nature Communications (2021)
-Cryo-EM Reveals Active Site Coordination Within a Multienzyme pre-rRNA Processing Complex. Nature Structural and Molecular Biology (2019)
-Grc3 programs the essential endoribonuclease Las1 for specific RNA cleavage. PNAS (2017)
Assists in computational activities such as image processing of cryoEM data, macromolecule model building, and structural analysis
Helps train junior staff and trainees in the group.
Participates in the validations of new tests and applications associated with RNA biology experiments.
Conducts research experiments.
Assists, summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals.
Assists in preparing figures for publications, conferences and grants.
Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
No experience required.
Experience with computational analysis and/or structural biology.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, prioritization skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
