Job Description

As part of a multi-year strategic hiring and growth initiative in Applied Psychological Science, the Department of Psychology at The University of Oklahoma, Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences is seeking applications for a faculty opening at the rank of Associate Professor in Social Psychology. Candidates should have a program of research that focuses on the intersection of culture with health and well-being. The anticipated starting date for this position is beginning Fall 2023, and the assigned teaching load is 2:2. This position aligns with the strategic plan in Psychology and in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Partnerships (https://www.ou.edu/research-norman).

The ideal candidate for the position will have established a successful research program that applies cross-cultural and social psychological theories and principles (e.g., social cognition, the self) to address processes related to well-being or health-related outcomes. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on health outcomes associated with cultural changes and societal challenges facing culturally diverse communities at the local, regional, national, and/or global levels. Candidates should have evidence of high-quality scholarship in Social Psychology as evidenced by funded and/or published research with the potential for extramural funding. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the department’s growing national reputation for excellence in Applied Psychological Science.  To be considered for this position, candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology with broad expertise in Social Psychology, Cultural or Health Psychology, or a related discipline. Candidates must also have the potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and be prepared to expand course offerings in their area of specialization. The assigned teaching load will be two courses per semester.
