Job Description
Position SummaryThis is a 10 month position with two months off unpaid each summer. Position includes full benefit package with health care coverage during summers off. NP performs a full range of ambulatory health care services for the MSU student population. The successful candidate would be committed to understanding the special needs of University students and employees. Clinic hours range from 8AM-8PM M-F with shift hours variable between 8-11 hours per day. Occasional Saturdays from 10AM-1PM may be required.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work such as a Masters in Nursing; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in direct nursing care in a specialized area or a Master's Degree in Nursing; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in direct nursing care in a specialized area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position also requires possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and specialty certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan. Requires certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in a clinical environment involving emergency medicine including suturing of lacerations and initial management of fractures; preventative, chronic and acute primary care medicine; basic gynecological skills; experience in health education involving college age young adults and diverse populations. Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting. Experience with peer review, electronic medical records, and committee work in developing/updating policy/procedures
