Position Summary

The Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator II, reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), will work in a telehealth-based health behavior intervention among cancer patients. This position requires a nurse to deliver the behavioral protocols through video-conferencing calls, perform tasks designed in the project protocol, communicate the project to team members and study participants, collect/monitor data, ensure the quality of protocol implementation, and comply with research regulatory guidelines. They may recruit/enroll study participants using online applications.

To conduct and understand all study activities in accordance with the protocol, IRB regulations, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). To manage the life cycle of the clinical trial from study start-up through trial maintenance to study closure. To coordinate and organize patient care including recruitment, screening, scheduling, consenting, conducting visits, and collecting various assessments such as adverse event (AE) information or questionnaires.

Duties and Responsibilities

Works directly with study participants to deliver a telehealth-based physical activity protocol. Responsibilities include exergame equipment setup (with on-site staff), exergame system safety instruction, personalized exergame prescription development/adjustment, exergame coaching, discussion of barriers strategies, review of exergame minutes, QA about the exergame prescription.
Will be responsible to enter data into REDCap via iPad and report any protocol deviations.
Will use FaceTime calls, text messages, and phone calls to interact with the participant, based on the protocol.
Ensures consistent interpretation and adherence to protocols at all stages of trials by team members.
Recommends changes in protocols to improve the quality of data.
Will assist with the revision of REDCap based on the protocols.
Identifying and screening potential study participants to verify eligibility, and recruiting/enrolling participants. Once an individual is enrolled, is responsible to explain and train participants on how to use the electronic REDCap survey application.
May review electronic medical records to determine what, if any, treatments/services participants receive during the study period, and how those treatments may affect study outcomes.
Attends research study meetings to discuss the progress/status of the study participants.
Supports other research staff as needed on participant assessments and follow-ups.
Collaborates with and maintains a positive rapport with college and university research staff, study sites, and members of the research team, as well as, federal granting agencies.
Works in a professional manner and completes tasks and projects in a timely manner.
Miscellaneous computer operation skills include Microsoft Office, e-mails, videoconferencing, and internet browsers/social applications.
Participates in education/training opportunities that facilitate this role.
Facilitates compliance relative to University, SON, and sponsor policies, CNR SON, and University policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Annual Pay Range: $60,835 - $98,855


Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirements. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills

Previous research experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Outlook; editing experience; ability to construct tables, graphs, and charts
Flexible, self-motivated, professional, and possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
CITI IRB training will be required upon hire
Well-developed communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
Able to work independently and within a team environment
