Responsibilities
The Miller Lab is seeking applicants to manage the lab’s rodent colonies for studies in muscle and brain aging and disease. Primary duties will include maintaining mouse colonies, husbandry of genetically-modified lines, drug administration, monitoring mouse treatments, interacting with animal facility staff, and PCR genotyping. Secondary duties include other lab-based analyses. The lab environment is highly supportive of learning other approaches including techniques for molecular biology and proteomics, sequencing, electrophysiology, and bioinformatics.


Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in the biological sciences or veterinary studies sciences or equivalent years of professional, paid, relevant laboratory experience. Must be skilled in performing standard animal procedures (including handling, treatment administration, and genotyping of mice) and have experience with mouse colony management. Advanced computer skills (or the ability to learn those skills) are necessary, including data acquisition, Microsoft Office, order processing, and methods for backing up data. Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and adherence to strict deadlines required. OMRF has mandated the COVID-19 vaccine for all employees, excluding those with an approved medical or religious accommodation, as a condition of employment.
