Hiring Range: $20.24/hourly


JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This position will perform and coordinate laboratory operations in the Integrative Genomics Bio-Repository, which include sample collection, high-throughput DNA extraction, quality control testing, sample archiving, genomic analyses, and sample distribution, as needed. The position will follow established standard operating procedures to ensure laboratory quality assurance and compliance with professional standards of practice and requires general supervision and instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new activities or special assignments.


Performs high-throughput DNA isolation, quality control testing, liquid handling, and sample storage in the biorepository according to established standard operating procedures and laboratory protocols.
Enters biorepository data into the BIG laboratory information management system and maintains appropriate documentation of operational workflow.
Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner with minimal supervision.
Understands, applies, and supports departmental/hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
Performs library preparation and genomic analyses using Illumina NextSeq500 systems according to established standard operating procedures and laboratory protocols.
Attends departmental meetings, training sessions and in-services offered to improve job performance and expand knowledge.
Performs other duties as necessary.


EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in one of the sciences, one year of research laboratory experience; OR Master’s Degree will be accepted in lieu of experience. Experience in Molecular biology and basic laboratory skills with ability to independently conduct experiments. Demonstrated competency in routine laboratory testing and operations. Basic knowledge of laboratory information systems, data collection and entry. Experience with automated DNA isolation systems; experience with microarray-based genotyping methods; experience with next-generation sequencing. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
