Electrochemical characterization experience, especially for carbon dioxide reduction; NMR experience; XPS experience; demonstrated track record of high impact publications. Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or a closely related field with a strong skillset in electrochemistry, catalysis, and chemical and/or materials characterization techniques.
The Conn Center seeks a post-doctoral researcher focused on electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide from flue gas. The ideal candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary academic team to understand reaction dynamics and the effects of various contaminants on the electrochemical process. In addition to electrochemical testing, the postdoc will investigate electrocatalyst behavior and degradation through analytical and materials characterization. The ideal candidate should have experience with electrochemistry, catalysis, and chemical and materials characterization techniques.
The employee's duties will include: a) experiments and characterization related to the electrochemical reduction of CO2 in nonaqueous solvent; b) study of the effects of various gas contaminants on the electrochemical performance; c) catalyst and electrode synthesis; d) characterization using techniques such as GC-MS, NMR, SEM, XPS, etc.; d) mentoring and training of graduate students; e) authoring scientific publications; f) self-motivated learning and the contribution of scientific insights from the current research literature; g) interacting in a collaborative manner with other team members to accomplish organizational goals; h) working to meet grant objectives and milestones. High-level data analysis and assessments, report and grant/manuscript writing, and oral presentations on a regular basis are expected.
