Position Summary

A Staff Scientist position is available in a highly competitive research lab at City of Hope, one of a prestigious group of NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers. 

The successful applicant will join a highly competitive and productive research lab immediately to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying transcriptional control and cell signaling during cancer initiation and progression. The applicant will use “cutting-edge” and innovative genetically engineered mouse models and other advanced and unbiased biological approaches to uncover gene-expression and genomic and epigenetic alterations that regulate oncogenic transformation and related cellular events in tumorigenesis.

This Staff Scientist position is designed for very capable research professionals who have previous research experience, skills, and analytic ability to lead sophisticated research projects that are focused on the field of cancer biology and stem cell biology.  The candidate should also have a proven track record of creativity and productivity, as well as previous experience in designing and performing daily experiments with GEM models.  The candidate should be able to help the PI in drafting research proposals and manuscripts and evaluates research data and develops new experimental approaches.  He/she should be able to work under stress in order to meet deadlines. He/she should also be able to assist the PI to train lab staff in specialized procedures, equipment and theoretical concepts behind unique tests. We provide a fruitful research and training environment and competitive salary and fringe benefit.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Ph.D. or M.D/Ph.D. degree in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with mouse models of human diseases, cancer biology, molecular biology, or genetics is highly desired.
