Summary

Dr. Ramiro Salas is seeking a candidate to fill a Research Coordinator I position that will recruit and enroll patients at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center to participate in his research study. The study will use human brain imaging and genetics of nicotinic and opioid receptors to predict outcomes in veterans that start treatment for opioid use disorder. The Research Coordinator I will coordinate the day to day activities of the research protocols including screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants.
 

Job Duties


1. Interviews, screens, and recruits patients for the research study; explains process and procedures to educate study participants.
2. Performs MRI data acquisition. Collects patient information, processes documents and ensures accurate information is entered into a database. Obtains vital signs on study participants. 
3. Collects, processes, and ships paperwork for blood and biological specimens according to research procedures.
4. Performs and submits test results to designated research parties.
5. Assists with brain MRI cognitive tasks on study participants.
6. Corresponds with patients throughout study.
7. Orders supplies and equipment for research study.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
