Job Description

A Postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Genomic Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, United States. This position reports to Dr. Linghua Wang in Genomic Medicine Department and is co-mentored by Dr. Amir Jazaeri in Department of Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine.

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to work on on ovarian cancer immunogenomics studies. We are interested to conduct translational studies on clinical specimens collected from ovarian cancer patients to better understand the cellular and molecular underpinnings driving disease progression, therapy resistance, and minimal residual disease. We will apply innovative immunogenomics approaches such as multimodal single cell sequencing to characterize the cellular and phenotypic heterogeneity of tumor cells and the diverse cell populations within the tumor immune microenvironment and interactions among them, which we believe will generate a more complete picture of the tumor immune ecosystem and potential signatures, biomarkers, and targets for future clinical applications.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will learn bioinformatics skills for processing and analyzing genomics and immunogenomics data, at bulk and single-cell levels; Better understand tumor cell heterogeneity and tumor immune microenviroment and their clinical significance; Improve skills in study design, data analysis, interpretation, presentation, and manuscript writing. The Postdoctoral Fellow will carry out integrative analysis of the bulk and single cell sequencing data generated on clinical specimens from ovarian cancer patients to comprehensively characterize the tumor ecosystem and identify predictive/prognostic signatures/biomarkers and potential targets that could be harnessed to design rational therapeutic interventions. The Postdoctoral Fellow will have great opportunities to collaborate with diverse groups of physician scientists, laboratory scientists, immunologists and computational biologists at MD Anderson Cancer Center and will be co-mentored by Drs. Linghua Wang and Amir Jazaeri.

Individuals with a PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science or a related field are encouraged to apply. A strong computational background, proficiency in R and at least one additional scripting language (e.g. Python, Perl) and knowledge in biostatistics are required. Experience working with single cell sequencing data analysis and high-performance computing environment (Unix/Linux) is highly preferred. A good understanding of cancer biology, immunology, cell biology, and molecular biology is also preferred. Proven track record of publications, excellent spoken and written communication skills are required.

Interested applicants should send a Cover Letter specifying past research experience/skills/accomplishments, a Curriculum Vitae and the contact information of three (3) Referees to Dr. Wang ( and Dr. Amir Jazaeri
( with the subject line entitled “Postdoctoral Fellow - Application – Applicant’s Name”.
