Summary

The Clinical Content Curator will critically evaluate and interpret cancer genomic variants for curation into the JAX Clinical Knowledgebase (JAX-CKB) and will assimilate and integrate data from the scientific literature related to pathogenicity and predictive efficacy evidence in a format compatible with clinical reporting. The Clinical Content Curator will participate in regular variant review to ensure content is up to date.

Responsibilities

Working with internal resources, external databases, and the scientific literature, the Clinical Content Curator will curate and interpret cancer genomic variants, clinical trials, and therapeutic knowledge information through standard operating procedures

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in genetics, genomics, cellular biology, molecular biology or an equivalent is required with zero to one year related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of targeted therapies, next-generation sequencing technology, genomics, clinical informatics, molecular diagnostics, pharmacology, and cancer biology.
  • Previous experience as a technical writer and/or curator is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly assess, interpret, integrate, and reassemble relevant medical and scientific literature.
  • Working knowledge of database/curation systems, including biomedical ontologies, and the ability to critically evaluate and use new systems is required.
  • Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, and organizational skills are required.
