Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:
This position will support the Konopka Lab, led by Dr. Adam Konopka, in the Biology of Aging program. Dr. Konopka's research focuses on the biology and metabolism of the aging musculoskeletal system. The Konopka Lab uses healthspan extending treatments as tools to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms that delay the onset or slow the progression of age-related osteoarthritis and loss of skeletal muscle health.

DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION:
Bachelor's degree in a scientific field is required. Biology, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Cell and Molecular Pathology, Engineering or other related science is preferred.
MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Proficiency with sample preparation and execution of laboratory techniques is required. Examples include qPCR, RNAseq, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, confocal microscopy, histology, fluorometry/luciferase assays, cell or mitochondrial respiration, and/or redox assays.
- Experience with management of animal husbandry, genotyping, tissue harvest/dissection and animal surgery is preferred.
- Experience with in vitro and in vivo molecular biology techniques (siRNA, Crisper-Cas9, or CRE-LoxP) and/or materials testing systems is preferred.
