Lab works on motor neuron disease using cell culture, zebrafish and mouse models. Position requires an individual with existing research experience capable of independently preparing and organizing lab reagents, genotyping animal colony, performing experiments, record keeping, ordering supplies for the lab and producing novel ideas for increasing efficiency in lab practices.
Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments regarding mouse and cell line models.
Collects, compiles and analyzes data. This includes but is not limited to collecting tissue from mice, extracting RNA and Protein, performing qPCR, WB and IHC on these tissues. Analyzing the results and preparing in format for lab meeting presentations.
Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
Documents results of experiments. Must keep a lab notebook using BCM approved Benchling web interface.
Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
Orders laboratory supplies and equipment. Must keep track of financial accounts and work with PI to determine which sources of funding to pay for which orders. Responsible to maintaining stock piles of frequently used reagents and disposables so the lab never runs out unexpectedly.
Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
Three years of relevant experience.
