Job Description


The Department of Medicine, Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas is seeking a Research Coordinator I. The key person will coordinate the day-day activities of a federally funded randomized clinical trial, including screening and recruitment of research volunteers for the trial, conduct orientation sessions, assemble and maintain study participants charts, track study compliance, enter and quality control study database, and lead weekly research meetings.

Job Duties
  • Coordinate the research activities of the human clinical trial working closely with the PI.
  • Conduct orientation sessions.
  • Prepare and send correspondence to participants’ personal physicians.
  • Assemble and maintain study participant charts, track study compliance, enter data into the study database; and assist in preparation of the data for DSMB meetings.
  • Ensure documentation of consent process in patient’s electronic record.
  • Instruct participants on the proper intake of metformin or placebo (e.g. two tablets bid with meals) and document compliance on standardized form.
  • Assist with muscle biopsies.
  • Perform venipuncture for collection of blood samples, including processing of samples and proper shipment per regulatory guidelines
  • Collect and maintain accurate source documentation for each study participants; accurately document in CPRS, complete data entry and respond to queries by investigative team and Data ans Safety Monitoring Committee
  • Assure confidentiality and security of human participants and data collected in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Order supplies from SRM.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience Required: Three years of relevant experience.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
