Job posting number: #7071811 (Ref:565a5704)
Posted: November 5, 2020
Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
Immediate opening for 2 positions as post-doctoral fellows or other clinical trainee levels (medical students, residents, fellows) in the Gastman Laboratory in the Department of Inflammation and Immunity at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute and Department of Plastic Surgery, Cleveland Clinic. Individuals with clinical experience and knowledge of cancer are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate would be a medical student, resident or fellow interested in translational research related to cancer and specifically skin malignancies like melanoma as well as surgery (including but not limited to surgical oncology and plastic surgery). As these projects are highly translational there will be more emphasis on tissue handling, storing and shipping than basic science assays. However, both projects will be involving proprietary devices and reagents as they relate to industry sponsored research. There may be extensions of this research that will require collaboration with bioinformatics teams. In addition as these projects mature there is likely need for studies requiring immunohistochemsty and flow based analyses. Finally, there may also be extensions requiring in vivo modeling with cancer specimens and PDX models. Applicants with a clinical background as mentioned and with appropriate basic science skills will be prioritized – however these positions to lend themselves to learning of these techniques. Finally excellent communication skills is also a priority as there will be significant correspondences between our institution and the sponsors. Given that this is for translational studies, there may be associated chart review and even review article type activities asked of those accepted to these positions.
Ph.D. or M.D./D.O. with relevant laboratory experience is required. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Send cover letter and CV and contact information for 3 references to: Brian Gastman, MD.; Department of Inflammation & Immunity; Lerner Research Institute / NE40; Cleveland Clinic; 9500 Euclid Avenue; Cleveland, Ohio 44195, firstname.lastname@example.org.
