Job DescriptionThe Jackson Laboratory (Dr. Mark W. Jackson) is seeking to fill full time postdoctoral positions at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (Case CCC) and the Department of Pathology at Case Western Reserve University. Our research focuses on triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), specifically the following three areas: (1) defining the molecular interactions of a previously unrecognized oncogene family (FAM83A-H) that drives cancer development through EGFR/RAS signaling; (2) screening for genes that promote resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors in vivo, and defining their role in modulating anti-tumor immunity, (3) the molecular antagonism between tumor microenvironmental cytokines Oncostatin M and Interferon- in regulating cancer cell plasticity (epithelial-mesenchymal plasticity and and cancer stem cell properties), and their impact on metastasis and recurrence. Postdoctoral fellows will benefit from career and mentoring opportunities available the Case CCC (including opportunities for pilot funding, grant-writing courses, and teaching and mentoring experience in our CanSUR Summer Undergraduate Research Program).
Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for research grants. Candidates should be able to coordinate and perform experiments using cell culture models (2D/3D) and in mice (injection of genetically modified cancer cells using tail-vein injection or sub-cutaneous injection; experience with mammary gland transplantation is a plus) and perform common lab techniques (flow cytometry, PCR, cell culture, western blot, cell growth, etc). To apply, applicants must be eligible to work full-time in the U.S. and should email their CV including the names of three references to firstname.lastname@example.org.
