Job Description

The employee will work as part of a team performing experimental measurements using x-ray diagnostics to study fuel injection. 

The employee will assist the Principal Investigator in conducting measurements of fuel injection, analyzing data, and reporting the results. The employee will perform measurements of automotive and aerospace fuel injectors and sprays using Argonne’s Advanced Photon Source, including x-ray radiography, tomography, and high-speed imaging. The employee will analyze the results with the goal of quantifying the fundamental fluid mechanics of the systems, and will work with computational modelers to develop a better understanding of the injection processes. The employee will write publications and make presentations of the results at conferences and meetings.

Basic Requirements:  Considerable

  • Knowledge of experimental fluid dynamics.

  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts and procedures.

  • Computer and programming skills, including data processing and manipulation of large data sets. 

Good:

  • Good skill with general laboratory instrumentation and safe experimental practices.

  • Good skills in oral and written communications.

  • Experience and skill working in a team environment.
