Job DescriptionJob Summary
Operates computer and related peripheral data-processing equipment to process software programs and produce printed output of required results. Provides customer service in computing centers.
Previous customer service experience is preferred.
This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at work site if they are healthy and without COVID-19 symptoms.
The Computer Operator will provide general systems support and cooperative workload sharing in research, maintenance, development and implementation of computer technology solutions to the library and the Eccles Health Sciences Education Building (EHSEB). In a team environment the
individual will participate in the delivery of computing services to in-house and remote users of the library.

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.
Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required
Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking.
Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking.
Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.
One year of computer operations experience or equivalency required; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Work experience in using MacOS, Windows, basic networking and knowledge of predominant operating systems in the current computing environment highly preferred. Candidates should have a proven ability to work in a team environment while exercising a high level of reliability, communication and cooperation with colleagues. Preference will be given to those candidates with educational training in computer sciences and an undergraduate or graduate degree. Candidates should have experience or training in wide area networks and local area networks.
