Under general supervision of the President, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides leadership and management for the Information Technology (IT) department and is responsible for planning, coordination and security of IT resources. The CIO ensures that the College's IT systems are dependable, responsive and fully support the College's internal and external needs. The CIO provides strategic focus for development, implementation and use of the College's IT resources in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages all aspects of the College's IT infrastructure.
Manages prioritization and implementation of all aspects of the College's technology projects including oversight of the College's ticketing system.
Develops budget for IT department, maintains budget control and management, and supports the institutional budget process for short- and long-term planning to support a sound institutional technology infrastructure.
Develops and implements the college's Technology Plan in support of the institution's mission and Strategic Plan.
Develops and implements the College's Information Security program.
Evaluates new technologies, processes, and methods to ensure alignment with best practices in technology infrastructure, information security, risk management, disaster recovery, business continuity and general system operations.
Employs best practices to ensure system stability, uptime, and infrastructure reliability.
Serves as the primary administrative contact for all IT vendors; responsible for managing IT vendor relations; ensures that all licenses, warranty, maintenance, and support agreements are in place, current, and meet the institution's needs; assumes overall supervisory responsibility for the College's data and voice communications technologies.
Guides the development of the College's Information Technology Master Plan, in support of the College's strategic plan; establishes and reviews long range planning, goals and priorities for IT resources and services. Ensures that the plan is communicated to the College community and executed in a timely manner.
Plans, evaluates, and recommends the purchase, replacement and upgrade of hardware, software and networking/telecommunications components to ensure successful operations.
Prepares reports on IT operations, budget items, proposals, and other associated items as needed.
Implements procedures for communicating IT information to the College community. As needed, provides or assists in securing training specific to IT.
Remains current in best practices related to all areas of information technology. Experience with large-scale implementation of technology projects.
Maintains awareness of and ensures that the College is in compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations as well as accreditation requirements for compliance as applicable to information technology, including but not limited to the accessibility of IT infrastructure and content.
Maintains awareness of and ensures that the College is in compliance with all SUNY policies and requirements relating to information technology.
Works with College staff, faculty and students to ensure the College's IT resources fully support the College's mission and operations and meet student learning needs.
Ensures the College's applications and software are accessible to persons with disabilities to the extent required by law, including management of new or modified content.
Maintains proficiency in current technologies.
Supervises and directs the technical and professional development of the staff of the Office of Information Technology Services.
Serves on the President's Council and participates in the discussion, formulation and interpretation of College policies and procedures.
Acts as the representative of the College to SUNY in all matters related to information technology.
Performs other duties as assigned.
