Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Operating Engineer III for the Rutgers University Facilities and Capital Planning Department.
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, maintains, operates and repairs the stationary steam boilers and auxiliary equipment, throughout the Camden Campus including RBHS.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of boilers, turbines, motors, pumps, compressors, blowers, valves and other auxiliary equipment.
Operates the Power Plant at maximum efficiency at all times, resulting in minimum energy consumption.
Periodically makes comprehensive tests, takes readings of fuel consumption pressure, draft conditions, temperatures, steam flow and other recordings.
Adds chemicals to treat steam, water, fuel in accordance with requirements prescribed.
Ensures compliance with all regulations.
Keeps work area clean and neat.
Makes continual inspections of equipment and systems in area of responsibility and reports conditions to the Manager of Engineering.
