New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) Department of Biomedical Sciences seeks a Research Technician for our Long Island, Old Westbury campus to assist in the laboratory. The main research interest of the laboratory is to understand the role of astrocytes for brain function and behavioral modulation in normal and disease states.
Assist principal investigator in execution of experiments, data collection and analysis, and maintain experimental records.
Isolate and maintain cultured cells, conduct cell based assays, PCR, ELISA, immunoblot analysis, immunohistochemistry, histology and image capture using advanced microscopic approaches.
Basic laboratory animal husbandry, maintain breeding colonies, genotyping, tissue collection, database management and obtain in vivo physiological recordings.
General laboratory management including regulatory and compliance issues, and maintain supplies, equipment, and reagents.
BS or MS in physiology, molecular or cellular biology.
Basic research knowledge and experience using laboratory methods for molecular and cellular studies. Experience working with pre-clinical animal models is a pre-requisite.
Excellent organizational abilities with strong record keeping practices and basic computer skills.
Excellent communication skills, and evidence of a collaborative working ethic.
