The Bioinformatics Programmer II will contribute to bioinformatics processing of microbial community data sets derived from Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data.
Initiation/implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of analysis software in support of microbial ecology studies
Proactively providing data processing support to multiple metagenomic sequencing projects
Tracking project data and reporting analysis results
Collaborating within the Bioinformatics team and the Project Managers to define software and analysis requirements
The ideal candidate is expected to using perl, bash or other programming languages as well as using UNIX/LINUX clusters, Python or R and Data visualization are optional
Ability to plan and organize working with multiple tasks and deadlines
Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Biological Science, or a related field.
Experience Required: Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred eduction: Master's degree in Biological Science, computer science or a related field.
Preferred experience: with Perl, Bash, Pyhon and R as well as programming using UNIX/LINUX clusters; Experience with NexGen data and metagenomic analyses are strongly desired.
