Job DescriptionJob Summary
To procure, process and analyze patient specimens of frozen tissue and formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue for microscopic evaluation in order to provide tumor content for gene sequencing.

Procure fresh tissue from biopsy.
Collect, process, organize, catalogue and store incoming specimens including biopsy tissue and frozen tissue.
Perform quality control and integrity tests.
Update databases for incoming specimens.
Generate standard operating procedures in standard formats.
Cut sections from frozen or paraffin tissue for automated and manuel H&E staining, LCM or nucleic acid extraction.
Process and embed tissue specimens.
Cut regular, tissue microarray blocks and slides for fluorescence in situ hybridization.
Assist with manual construction of tissue microarray blocks.
Perform standard DNA and RNA extraction.
Interact daily with coworkers and lab manager.
Work with database personnel and lab manager to update patient information into the database.
HT/HTL certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and/or completion NACCLS accredited histology program with 3 years of histology experience.
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Able to work under pressure of time and work volume without sacrificing accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively with other medical personnel.
Demonstrated and explained technical procedure and policies
Ability to recognize problems and take appropriate action
Must have skills basic to the practice of Histology Laboratory Technology
Proficient in sectioning tissue
