A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yan Jessie Zhang at the
University of Texas, Austin. Dr. Zhang is a tenured associate professor in the
Department of Molecular Biosciences and Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology. The Zhang lab has a long-standing interest in unraveling the principles of transcriptional regulation and its impact on brain tumors and neurological diseases, with specific emphasis on kinases and phosphatases. The postdoc associate will work on experiments involving the characterization of compounds for the targeted pathway in cells. The project is to understand the effects of chemical leads in the post-translational modification of targeted signaling pathways involved in neurological diseases. Responsibilities:
Cell culture preparation and transfection
Immunofluorescence imaging
Generation of knockout and knock-in cell lines
Cell-based assays, qPCR, immunoblotting, FACS
Transcriptome analysis including ChIP-seq and RNA-seq analysis


Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or Cell Biology.
Strong background in general molecular biology and cell biology techniques.
Extensive experience in cell culture techniques, immunoblotting, cell/biochemical-based assays is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with gene-editing techniques, and ChIP-seq or RNA-seq is highly desirable. Experience working with neuronal cells a plus.
