Creates, reviews, evaluates and revises curriculum of high-acuity continuing education courses for nurses; teaches courses in a face-to-face and/or hybrid, simulation and laboratory environment to a diverse population of students.
Works with the Nursing Continuing Education (NCE) Program Director to create written syllabi/course outlines and all course materials; evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' academic achievement; prepares and grades exams.
Maintains and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in nursing through attendance at conferences, seminars, and/or workshops; maintains office hours; serves on division committees (as needed) and participates in division meetings and activities.
1. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree plus 3 years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care, or a BSN and a graduate degree and 2 years’ experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care, or a graduate degree in nursing and 2 years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care.
2. Must hold an Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona by the first day of employment.
3. Must be able to meet health and safety requirements including CPR certification, Fingerprint Clearance Card, and drug testing.
4. Must complete EDU 250 – Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent within two years of date of hire.
A. Recent experience (within the past two years) in high-acuity healthcare setting i.e. critical care, telemetry, emergency department, or other high-level unit.
B. Experience with the use of technology including simulation and/or online learning.
C. Teaching experience in a nursing or health care related discipline.
Special Working Conditions
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements
May be required to travel to clinical facilities or be assigned to all GWCC locations
Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate’s own expense
May require evenings or weekends
May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
May be required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
Work hours and locations may vary
Possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card required
Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious diseases
