Job Description

We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Appointee position within our Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division (CSE). 

Under the guidance of a supervisor you will:

  • Synthesize 2D TMD nanocrystals using the CVD method and tune their electronic properties by doping and forming heterostructures with input from theory.
  • Carry out the characterization and fabrication of the as-made 2D nanocrystals for FET sensing.
  • Analyze data, prepare group meeting, presentation, and manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed publications.
  • Perform the chemical and biological sensing tests and design new sensor structure for performance improvement.
  • Mentor graduate students and collaborate with other scientists on interdisciplinary research.
 

Job Requirements: 

  • Self-motivated with strong scientific interest in learning new things
  • Synthesis of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) crystals with large size and high quality using methods such as chemical vapor method (CVD)
  • Doping of TMDs during the synthesis to tune their electronic properties
  • Fabrication of 2D heterostructure field-effect transistors (FETs) based on TMDs
  • Characterization of TMD transistors
  • Close collaboration with other members to ensure project progress
  • Reporting and presenting research results to various audiences, and publishing the scientific work in peer-reviewed journals in a timely manner
  • Previous experience with CVD synthesis of TMD crystals
  • Demonstrated experience in FET fabrication using lithography
  • Advanced knowledge and familiarity with FET and its characterization
  • An excellent record of creative and productive research demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • A Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, material sciences, or a related field completed within the last 3 years
