Job DescriptionThe Department of Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) - a joint initiative of Harvard Medical School (HMS) and the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH), located in Boston, Massachusetts - seeks an Instructor or Assistant Professor in quantitative research methods.
The candidate will work closely with colleagues, support research projects with statistical expertise across various divisions in the Department of Surgery and the Center for Surgery and Public Health (CSPH), mentor faculty, research fellows, and statistical programmers. This Researcher will construct scientifically rigorous study designs that meet clinical needs, ethical review, and publication standards; including clinical trial design and sample size/power calculations, write statistical methods sections for grant applications, study protocols, manuscripts, and IRB submissions, develop and carry out statistical analytic plans for existing and new datasets, including diagnostic, descriptive, and inferential analyses as needed. This candidate will communicate scientific results in various venues (papers, meetings, team labs).
We are looking for a Researcher with a PhD (or comparable terminal degree) in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Policy, or a closely related field. Minimum of 1-year relevant postdoctoral experience. Experience in collaborative interdisciplinary research as evidenced by publication record, research projects, or previous positions. Statistical programming skills (SAS and Stata preferred). Evidence of effective communications skills. Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
